Minister Dokka starts byelection
campaign

The Congress led by minister
for rural development and Prakasam incharge minister, Mr Dokka
Manikyavaraprasad Rao started election campaign for Ongole assembly seat
byelection on Wednesday amidst public protest at Prakasam colony in Ongole.
People of the colony questioned him about failure of Congress towards providing
basic amenities and about cancellation of land pattas to eligible poor
beneficiaries.
Muslim women and others led
by Congress leader S. Karimulla gheraoed
the minister and alleged that some Congress leaders had pressurized revenue
department hence their land pattas which were allotted in 2009 were cancelled.
They also lamented their difficulties with the poor amenities and alleged that
leaders were coming to their colonies only during elections seeking votes.
Responding to the woes, Mr Manikyavaraprasad Rao announced Rs 25 lakh funds to
the colony towards betterment of amenities, assured about reconsider of cancelled
pattas and further supply of drinking water through tankers with the aid of
Ongole MP, Mr Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy.
Minister asking people to
vote in favour of Congress in the byelection further claimed that only Congress
had provided reservations to Muslims and working for the uplift of minorities. MP,
Mr Srinivasulu Reddy assured Ongole corporation development with the funds of
union and state governments. Later people of 32nd ward complained
about pending of community hall construction and minister directed Ongole
municipal commissioner, Mr S. Ravindrababu and revenue divisional officer, Mr
K. Nagababu to resolve the issue. The Kondepi MLA, Mr G. V. Seshu, Kanigiri
legislator, Mr Mukku Ugranarsimha Reddy, PCC secretary, Mr A. Ghanashyam and
other leaders asked people to vote for Congress on the occasion.
