Bill can’t curb graft: Naidu

Bill can’t curb graft: Naidu September 15, 2011 DC Ongole The Telugu Desam president and former chief minister, Mr Nara Chandraba-bu Naidu, said on Wednesday that Jan Lokpal Bill was not the ultimate answ-er to control corruption and strict rules and reformation of all government sectors would give good results. Interacting with students of RISE institutions of the engineering college at Pelluru near Ongole, Mr Naidu said that presently there was need for awareness about corruption among people and poverty and corruption were interlinked. Responding to the questions about attacks on girl students, Mr Naidu asked them to learn self-protecti-on methods to repulse the attacks. He alleged that the state government’s failure to take strict action against stalkers was the reason behind the increased attacks on girls. Answering a question about his comments that agriculture was a waste, he denied this and said that it was false propaganda of Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy. He clarified that he thought that farmers’ children should not remain farmers, hence has introduced information technology to develop them. Mr Naidu deplored the poor response of youth to politics and announced that the TD was going to provide 30 per cent seats to youth in 2014 elections. He clarified that politicians were policy makers who were capable of changing society through the Constitution and laws, hence youth should join politics to reform society. Mr Naidu was shocked when a girl student, Ms J. Sindhu, demanded a firm announcement from him on the Telangana issue. He added that the Congress was in power, hence was the deciding power on this issue. Students Rajeswari, Ven-katakrishna, Sairam, Nav-in, Anusha, Pavani, Jhan-si, Rajnikanth, Harishba-bu, Asia Begum, Ramesh-babu, Triveni and other students posed questions.
