The Ongole MLA and YSR Congress leader, Mr Balineni Srinivas Reddy, refuted allegations leveled by Telugu Desam leaders against him about anomalies in land allocation to the poor in Ongole. Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, Mr Reddy recalled that his proposal to give housing land pattas to 5,000 poor people in the vacant university land, was thwarted by the some TD leaders, who moved court and stopped it. Referring to the allegations of TD district president, Mr Damacherla Janardhan, about 2,000 fake land pattas given by him, Mr Reddy said that he is ready to quit politics if the allegations are proved. Mr Reddy said that he never prevailed on revenue officials to provide land pattas to anybody, and demanded action against the officials responsible for the anomalies in land allocation, pointing to 35 tahsildars who conducted enquiries before sanctioning land. Mr Reddy alleged that the minister for municipal administration, Mr Manugunta Mahidhar Reddy, had pressurised officials to remove people who supported YSRC from the voter’s list. He added that they will lodge a complaint with state election commission, about removal of eligible voters in the Ongole constituency. He said that as minister for mines, he was not responsible for any anomalies, and clarified that he signed the file for CBI inquiry against Gali Janardhan Reddy, while in the Rosaiah government.
