Seven die in Prakasam

Seven persons were killed in three separate incidents on Saturday in the Prakasam district. Five persons killed in two road accidents on national higway-5 and two drowned in a pond of Kollagantla village of Kandukur mandal. Makkena Bharati 46 of Lingamguta village of Maddipadu mandal was returning in car from Chennai with relatives G. Venkatasubbaraju 45 and M. Srinivasulu. The car rammed into a stationary road roller at Rajupalem on NH-5 of Ulvapadu mandal. Bharati and Venkatasubbaraju died on the spot with severe head and body injures.  The Ulavapadu sub-inspector, K. Somasekhar rushed to the spot and shifted severely injured Srinivasulu to a hospital at Kavali for treatment by registering a case.

In another road accident three persons died on the spot when the lorry in which they were traveling dashed into a stationary lorry near ITI college at Maddipadu on NH-5. G. Rosi Reddy 45 of Bodduvanipalem village of Santanutalpadu mandal, L. Venkatasesha Rao 40 of Gangavaram village of Addanki mandal and lorry driver P. Koteswara Rao 38 stuck in the cabin after dashing stationary vehicle and died with severe head and body injuries. The trio was bringing seven buffaloes from Mandapeta in the lorry and five buffaloes also killed in the accident.

The deputy superintendent of police, M. Rajnikanth Reddy, circle inspector, V. Bhushanam, sub-inspector, P. Bhaktavatsala Reddy with their staff rushed to the spot and pull down bodies from the cabin. The Maddipadu police registered a case. In a third incident K. Kondaiah 70, shepherd of Kollagunta went into village pond to nurture buffaloes and stuck in the waters. On hearing screaming, Kondaiah’s friend K. Koteswara Rao 50 went into water to rescue but the duo drowned in the pond waters. The Kandukur police registered a case.
