The Telugu Desam president, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, predicted on Tuesday that the YSR Congress president and Kadapa MP, Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, will go to jail in the ongoing CBI probe due to financial illegalities.
Mr Naidu started his “fight against corruption” in which he came down on the YSRC and Congress during a dharna at Gundayapalem and meetings in other villages. Alleging that Rs 750 crores were invested in Jagan’s group by Mr Nimmagadda Prasad of Matrix, Mr Naidu clarified that Mr Prasad had invested the amount as largesse due to the sanctioning of the Vodarevu and Nizampa-tnam Ports Industrial corridor by the then chief minister Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.
He alleged that YSR had robbed valuable lands in the name of a coastal corridor, special economic zones and ports from Itchapuram to Tada, and Jagan had started the YSRC, television channel and newspaper with the aid of illegal money. The TD president demanded return of farm lands which were snatched for VANPIC at nominal prices to poor farmers or payment of market price. He alleged that the Ongole MLA, Mr Balineni Srinivas Reddy, had earned Rs 200 crore illegally in VANPIC and asked people to defeat him in the next elections.
Referring to the protests of Anna Hazare, Mr Naidu claimed that we can eradicate poverty from society in the next 10 years by razing corruption. Mentioning the 2-G, Commonwealth Games and other scams, he asked people to join them in the fight against corruption. Responding to the demand of villagers of Kanaparti and adjacent areas about cancellation of the Genco thermal power plant, he promised to fight for this. Mr Naidu addressed public during road shows at Throvagunta, Valetivar-ipalem, Karavadi, Ulchi, Bodduluruvaripalem and Devarampadu accompanied by TD leaders, S.M. Laljan Basha, Metla Satya-narayana, Kodela Sivapr-asad Rao, Telugu Rythu state president Karanam Balaramakrishnamurthy, Telugu Desam MLC Siddha Raghav Rao, TD district president Damacherla Janardhan, Telugu Mahila state president Shoba Hymavathi and others.
