While forecasting a Telugu Desam win in the coming Assembly elections, the Telugu Desam president, Mr Nara Chandrababu Naidu, levelled several allegations of corruption against the Congress government and defended his party as corruption free during his 90-minute election campaign speech in Ongole on Wednesday.
Admitting that some castes withdrew their support to TD, Mr Naidu was hopeful as backward classes had continually supported the party for past 30 years. The TD president also said that he will fight for the cause of farmers. He castigated the Congre-ss for robbing the resour-ces of the state for several years and said that he had started new trend by disclosing his family assets.
Mr Naidu alleged that the Ongole MLA, Mr Balineni Srinivas Reddy, had earned crores of rupees in the Vanpic (Vodarevu and Nizampatnam Port & Industrial Corridor) and some Congress leaders like Ongole MP, Mr Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, are profiting through liquor trade. He defended allocation of land to Emaar by the TD government, by stating that the TD had adhered to the protocol but the Congress government had changed the norms. He also alleged anomalies in the galaxy granite mines allocation at Chimakurti by former chief minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.
Mr Naidu challenged that he is ready to take any action if anyone proves corruption in the TD government. He expressed his eagerness to serve the people round-the-clock while addressing party leaders and activists during the district party meeting on the second consecutive day of his three-day tour. Other TD leaders, Mr S.M. Lal Jan Pasha, Ms N. Rajakumari, Mr Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, and Mr Karanam Balarama Krishnamurthy, also addressed the gathering.
