Azad vows to continue welfare plans October 3, 2011 By DC Correspondent Ongole The Union minister for health and family welfare, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, said that the Congress led UPA government will continue all welfare schemes in the election manifesto. Addressing a public meeting at Yerragondapalem after starting the Indira Jalaprabha, Mr Azad praised the Chief Minister, Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, for his efforts for the development of SC/STs. Calling it a gift to farmers on Gandhi Jayanti, he praised the newly announced loan interest waiver scheme. He also had a word of praise for the Indira Jalaprabha plan. The rural development and Prakasam in-charge minister, Mr Dokka Manikyavaraprasad Rao, asked the CM to expand the Jalaprabha scheme to another 40 lakh farmers next year. Yerragondapalem MLA, Mr A. Suresh, and Union minister for textiles, Ms Panabaka Lakshmi, also spoke. Earlier, the CM interacted with beneficiary farmers of Jalaprabha at Janagalapalli village.
