Parties in race to woo voters

The Congress, Telugu Desam, YSR Congress and Loksatta
intensified their byelection campaign at Ongole. Aspirants of these parties along
with their activists toured various areas of the Ongole asking people to vote
in favour of their parties. Congress candidate Ms Magunta Parvatamma participated
in the meeting Ongole mandal Congress party activists and later joined a meet
of BC leaders. She launched a house-to-house campaign from Mamidipalem after
garlanding Ambedkar’s statue. She met voters mainly women in Mamidpalem,
Kondamitta, Sitarampuram, Viswasnagar and Gollapalem areas along with Congress
leaders.
YSRC candidate and former minister, Mr Balineni Srinivas
Reddy was trying to woo BC voters in the byelection. During a meeting with YSRC BC
cell, Mr Srinivas Reddy promised party tickets to BCS, and mayoral seats of
various municipal corporations. He campaigned in Bilalnagar, Bharat colony and
other areas seeking votes for YSRC.
His wife Ms Sachi Devi, son, Mr Pranit Reddy and
daughter-in-law Ms Kavya Reddy also campaigned in several areas of Ongole. TD
aspirant, Mr Damacharla Janardhan accompanied by Telugu Rythu state president,
Mr Karanam Balaramakrishnamurthy, former MLAs, Mr E. Haribabu, Ms Pidatala
Saikalpana Reddy and others extensively toured several wards.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) supported Loksatta
candidate Mr A. Sivaramesh Reddy also campaigned at Housing board colony with
CPI (M) leaders and activists.
