Three students drowned in a pond at Parchur in Prakasam district on Wednesday while playing cricket with friends. Talluru Raviteja 12 of Parchur was playing cricket with his relatives Tummala Vamsi 12 of Chirala, Tupakula Nagaraju 12 of Nagulapadu of Pedanandipadu mandal of Guntur district and others at Kunta of the village. Cricket ball fell into the waters of nearby pond during play. Raviteja jumped into pond water to catch the ball but stuck in the mud water and screamed for help. Vamsi and Nagaraju also jumped into pond to rescue Raviteja but trio drowned in the pond. Other children who watched the fateful incident rushed to nearby colony and informed about drowning.

People came to rescue three students but found them dead. Tummala Purna father of Vamsi was working in the APSRTC as driver and recently his job was regularized hence he conducted a prayer in his house for which relatives came from Guntur, Chirala and other areas.  Raviteja, Nagaraju and Vasmi were studying class VI in their villages and are relatives. Police circle inspector, R. Srinivas, sub-inspector, P. Srihari Rao, Parchur tahsildar, V. Sailaja and others rushed to pond, fished out bodies and shifted to Chirala government hospital by registering a case. Trio families went into sorrow with the death of trio children.
