The YSR Congress leaders have speedup their byelection campaign in colonies of Ongole town. Former minister and YSRC aspirant, Balineni Srinivas Reddy meeting voters personally and highlighting the YSRC symbol, the ceiling fan. Multiple contest is on for byelection as Damacharla Janardhan was contesting from Telugu Desam, Magunta Parvatamma from Congress, A. Sivaramesh Reddy from Loksatta, Y. C. Yogaiah Yadav from Bharatiya Janata Party and several others are preparing as independents.

Mr Srinivas Reddy visited Gopalnagar, Santapeta and other areas of the town. He reeled out developmental works carried by him as MLA and minister. He vowed that YSRC would continue all welfare schemes introduced by Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy to help poor and needy people.

He alleged that TD was using religion and castes to defame its president and Kadapa MP, Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy. He recalled that YSR and other leaders had visited the Tirumala temple several times and Jagan had also visited the temple as ardent devotee having faith in Lord Venkateswara. He ruled out all allegations on this issue by TD and other parties as baseless.

Meanwhile, Mr Balineni Pranit Reddy along with his wife Kavya (son and daughter-in-law of Srinivas Reddy) campaigned in rural areas of the constituency. Ms Kavya attracted women voters asking votes in a traditional way by putting vermillion on women’s foreheads at Agraharam and other villages. The Congress leaders also started campaigning in the absence of their candidate Pavatamma but no activity was started from BJP, Loksatta and others.
