Nursing College sanctioned for Ongole

The union government has sanctioned a nursing college to
Prakasam district. This will be started on the premises of Rajiv Gandhi
Institute of Medical Sciences soon.
RIMS director, Dr B. Anjaiah here on Tuesday said that union
government has sanctioned a nursing college with Rs 10 crore of funds for
construction of buildings. He added that land was identified for nursing
college and construction works will start soon after receiving of funds. Dr Anjaiah
added that they are expecting 200 seats in the proposed nursing college.
He said that they had asked Medical Council of India to
start MBBS II year classes and fresh first year admissions in this year. He
clarified that earlier the MCI had inspected RIMS twice but did not submit any
report to the government and suggestions to RIMS hence there was suspense over
admissions and classes. Dr Anjaiah clarified that he and state director of
medical education, Dr K. Vishnuprasad had recently met Mr K. K. Salvar, member
of the MCI board of governors and joint secretary, Mr Prsanna Raju at New Delhi seeking
permissions for admissions and classes. He added that they had appealed to the MCI
to revisit RIMS to give permissions and expected a positive response.
